Shallow Low-Brightness Fixture Is "Progress" in VDT Area Lighting.
The TE3P parabolic troffer from Simkar was featured in the IES Progress Committee's 1996 Progress Report on new technologies. The TE3P is a shallow fluorescent fixture that provides exceptional visual comfort in VDT areas. Its low brightness and overall photometric performance meet the IES RP-1 standard for office lighting.
Only 3-3/4 inches deep, the TE3P comes in 2x2 (27-cell louver) and 2x4 (54-cell) configurations and can be installed in NEMA type "F" or "G" ceilings. Low-iridescence, semi-specular louvers are standard; specular aluminum is optional. Louvers are installed in a flush, black steel door to create an attractive "floating louver" appearance. The door hinges from either side, with swing-action cam latches for easy relamping.
Using a European-style long cell in the louver, the TE3P provides low brightness from oblique angles and directs light downward for efficient work-surface illumination. Its measured Visual Comfort Probability (VCP) ratings in both the O-degree and 90-degree plains are well above 90 for an 8.5-foot ceiling. From a user's point of view there is no direct glare, and no reflected glare in computer screens.
The highly-efficient TE3P is designed for three T8 lamps and comes standard with an electronic ballast. Options include magnetic or dimmable ballasts, master/satellite wiring, specular aluminum reflector and more. The unit meets the Preferred Requirements of the IES-RP1 standard when fitted with the specular reflector.
The TE3P is manufactured by Simkar in the U.S.A. It features a die-formed heavy gauge steel housing with deep embossments for added rigidity. Door corners are mitered for a smooth, strong fit and all parts receive a high-gloss baked white enamel finish applied over rust-inhibiting phosphate bonding. The TE3P is part of Simkar's Specification Grade product line, which includes parabolics, wall washers, troffers, surface boxes, wraparounds and channelites. In addition, Simkar manufactures the industry's most extensive selection of decorative fluorescent fixtures. Catalogs are available from Simkar, 700 Ramona Ave., Philadelphia, PA . TEL: . FAX: .
